In those days there was no suspension bridge. We crossed the ferry, and clambered up the sides of <a class=\"place\" href=\"#gm-map-1\" onclick=\"window.frames[&#39;gm-map-1&#39;].GeoMashup.clickMarker(&#39;42&#39;);\">Nightingale Valley<\/a> until we found some coign of vantage where we rested. Not a soul disturbed our solitude.
